As I write this a team of carpenters is installing the material which you sent me. Perhaps you could pass on to whom it may gratify the comments that Stairwarehouse sent us the very best wood machined with superlative quality. They said that they normally like to select material from the warehouse themselves, but could not do so because of this unusual requirement. Even so, the wood which came was as good as the best which they would have selected for themselves.

Shawn, Look, I'm an old dude (58) I have been in countless situations on both ends. Are there times you satisfy the customer and then pray they never call back?? Hell yes. But from where I am sitting Lainie's service to me, the access to your website and parts makes this long distance order go smoothly. The grand foyer of an estate home is an ideal application for box newel. Box newels have been chosen for generations to establish a visual aesthetic of substance and grandeur. Our box newels are sized so that you can select the mass that makes a solid statement, without overwhelming, in your space.

Experienced craftsman build box newels by hand, using old world methods passed down from one generation to the next. Our box newels are constructed with four solid sides which form the shaft of the box and a solid top. By paying careful attention to craftsmanship we produce a quality box newel post for your stairs that will stand the test of time.

We recommend box newels for use in any traditional stair railing system in conjunction with any full profile wood handrail and fittings and large scale starting steps. Of course, if you prefer a more delicate stair railing, specify our 4075 Box Newels (3” Square) a 1 ¼” baluster, and a Narrow Line wood handrail. We can provide wood stair box newels in many different species of wood, including Red Oak, Maple, Brazilian Cherry, American Cherry, Beech, Walnut, Hickory, Poplar, Mahogany and Primed White.
